ARIA VARIATA
Aria Variata was formed by three young musicians in Munich in 2013. As its name implies, the ensemble attempts to present compelling programs of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music in a wide range of styles and instrumentations. The ensemble initially explored repertoire for the baroque oboe, baroque cello, and harpsichord, appearing at the Oude Muziek Festival in Utrecht and the Festival of Early Music Innsbruck. They followed by releasing their first CD in 2016 with chamber music of the Würzburg composer Giovanni Benedetto Platti. In order to make the spectrum of the ensemble even more diverse, a baroque violinist, baroque bassoonist, and recorder player joined the ensemble the same year. In varying programs for three to six musicians, Aria Variata focuses on the music of Italian composer Giovanni Benedetto Platti and the famous Venetian "Ospedale della Pietà", and chamber music with the viola da gamba. The musicians are based in Munich, Basel, Stuttgart, and Amsterdam. They are inspired by the international exchange and perform as often as possible throughout Europe.
